Artist's Comments
Finally, after such a long time, I inked this picture! What took so long was deciding what sort of designs to put in the picture. The figures and the basic building structure had been inked for several months.
Originally, I was going to do Islamic Arabesques, but they were way too complicated and I didn't have enough references to make a believable pattern, so I went with Renaissance and Celtic interlace instead. For the Renaissance designs, I heavily referenced the Dover Collection of borders and alphabets, which my brother so kindly bought for me. I made up the Celtic interlace ones, although they're pretty standard. Mostly done in Sepia brush pen, in fact I did a small part of the knotwork in it, until I realized it didn't make it look clean enough so I switched to a finer point pen. are you kidding? do you realize just how utterly AMAZING THIS IS???? I can't get my mind around it it's so dang awesome! I mean... look at it! (well, you're probably about sick of it after all the inking, but, man, it's still just too gosh darn awesome.)
I'll email ya about my address once we get things fixed with the post office. something weird has been going on in the last few months about our address and dad's been trying to fix it with little luck... whatever it is.
