If anyone tells you that colouring foliage is easy, they LIES I tell you.
I was proud of this...until I scanned it and saw how my scanner ate all the purple, most of the blue and quite a bit of the green, but decided it was going to make everything more yellow than it actually is. Those extremely visible yellow spots are not that yellow, they really are dampened. So nearly all the subtlety and the grays as well are lost. It's almost amazing how what the scanner spits out is a surprise every single time. Like the Gumpian box of chocolates really.
Anyhow, in a feeble attempt to rectify the issue I made a photograph, which suffers from poor lighting and a strange angle, despite that I had my desk light shining directly on it. So while the subtlety came back it looks like I cheated because of the lighting. I swear that it looks like something inbetween the two!
So all my joy was sucked away by the bloody scanner. But if any of you have any advice on how to restrain the beast, I would most appreciate it. I'm still no good at colour contrast in Photoshop. =/
All coloured pencils all the time, with a splash of ink.
you just gave me a mini heart attack...... or maybe it's just heartburn from the Mexican food. but in any case.... you've just become my official mentor for traditional coloring.

Not only lovely, but really freaking beautiful. I like the photograph better, but either one is so pretty. I am jealous of your skillz. Makes me wish I had time to practice art-ing.

Yeah the scanner doesn't like coloured pencil. I've noticed it seems to like markers and perhaps watercolours better, but I've not tested the watercolours yet, only on my old scanner.
