Creature Design

Some design sketches of type of critter featured here: [link] , here: [link] and here: [link] . Obviously, some designs are older than others, and there is one sketch that was the beginning of one of the drawings linked above. And some actually are drawings of the character Ardence, since he is obviously one of the critters.

Basic info: These are a marsupial "arboreal" race, in quotes because some actually live in rocky desert climes. They are partially inspired by :iconchaypeta: 's ferin race because damnit there needs to be more marsupials out there! I hope my one Aussie cohort (Jon) agrees. ;) I also think of lemurs when I draw them. Culturally, a group of them are based on a tribe deep in the Amazon that I had read about in the New Yorker whose entire society exists primarily in the present tense, linguistically and culturally. So obviously, I needed to have some creature that could have that sort of society. ;) Still need to work on biology of these guys, though.

Actually I had a conversation with someone yesterday regarding marsupials. They do need more love.

'Cept koalas. The less said about them monstrosities the better.

XD

Yes, marsupials need more love, as do lizards, and giant insects a la Nausicaa.

And monsters. But that's just me I think.

Obviously.

There's a whole forest devoted to them, and I may try and write a story about them. Well they're not so much monsters as bological "monstrosities" but they're fun. I may even turn one of the stories into a comic, who knows. =)
